How schools in England include and support LGBT+ families
03 August 2025
The aim is to case study the views of LGBT+ families and investigate how they perceive schools have influenced (and possibly continue to) their own and their family’s identity. It will explore how schools were chosen, the interactions with schools and how they support and include the LGBT+ family identity.
I am currently looking to recruit LGBT+ parented families (with children of a range of ages from pre-school to post-secondary) who are willing to share their experiences and views on this .
Requirements
- LGBT+ Parents with children
- Children must have experienced the English school system (public and private; pre-school to beyond secondary)
- willing to be interviewed as a family
- Participation would entail:
- · The construction of a pre-interview mind map that considers relationships with schools and key events that have shaped your perceptions of school and your family
- · One joint interview with parents and children (children's level and mode of input to be decided by the family).
- · The contribution of your child/ren’s voice(s) through an agreed method; please note you and your children remain in control of what is shared and how their voice is collated and used.
- Location of interview to be agreed with participants.
